New Specialty Licensing Requirements in Florida

Due to the passage of HB 1383 during the 2023 Legislative Session, the CILB (Construction Industry Licensing Board) is in the process of developing new specialty license categories. The new specialty license categories include the following:

  • structural aluminum or screen enclosures
  • marine seawall work
  • marine bulkhead work
  • marine dock work
  • marine pile driving
  • structural masonry
  • structural pre-stressed, precast concrete work
  • rooftop solar heating installation
  • structural steel
  • window and door installation
  • garage door installation
  • plaster and lath
  • structural carpentry

Based this bill being signed by the Gov. Desantis in 2023, the above work classifications will be required to be licensed through the states DBPR (Department of Business and Professional Regulation) agency.

Any and all licensing by DBPR requires a eligibility requirements to include, but not limited to:  Work Experience Verification, State Licensing Testing, and Rigorous Back Ground Checks.

All General Contractors, negotiating with Sub-Contractors for specialty job categories should be aware that many companies will not be eligible after a certain date, due to unlicensed activity.  And may put project time lines in jeopardy, or come to a halt all together.

After some research, our company falls within the guidelines, without interruption in services provided, due to our State of Florida Certified General Contractors License CGC1527509.

Once these requirements go into effect, our scheduling forecast will fill up quickly.  Send us your project for estimating to get in the system early.

Hurricane Ian Support

WW Build giving back. Supporting Operation Airdrop taking needed supplies to Southwest Florida hurricane survivors.

We flew missions from Kissimmee Florida to North Pine Island to drop off much needed supplies to the local residence trapped on the island from the hurricane.  Then flew back to Punta Gorda Florida and picked up containers of BBQ pulled pork and vegetables to help feed the Cajun Navy running missions of rescue operations in areas of flooding.
